Fractured radial head
(4 discussions)
Dec 17th 2015 I took a fall and fractured my Radial head. The exrays showed a fractured and I was in a cast for 2 weeks. Then I was told to get more exrays and this time I was told it was frcctured in 2 places. I am now in a splint. My question is when do I know if I am ready for P therapy?

Your doc will tell you when you are ready. You may never regain full supination (that is turning your hand over with the palm facing the ceiling) after a radial head break, just to let you know what the eventual outcome will be. You will most likely get about 1/2 range of that movement. Good luck and be patient! Mya PT

Your Dr. will tell you when you need therapy. You can ask the Dr’s assistant too. This is a complicated question that only your dr can answer. He knows how stable your radial head is and if it can handle therapy.
