Freiburgs disease

(3 discussions)

I would really like to have replys from anyone who has had foot surgery and or has freibergs disease. I am 17 and in pain about 99% of the time, I have had special insoles for the past year and a half but they arent helping and steroids wear off really quickly so I am going to hav an opp sometime in the new year and I was just wandering if any one can tell me how good foot operations are and how long it will hurt afterwards. Thanks for reading this and I hope you reply

What type of surgery is your doctor recommending? A total joint replacement or just a remodelling of the joint?

I have had to have the operation twice, the first one was not sucsessful however the second worked really well. It actually only hurts for a day or two after the op and that is only if your foot is not elevated, I was up and about 2 days after. I had to wear a really attractive shoe for about 2-3 weeks then I was back to normal. It was quite strange and such a relief to finally be pain free and I have been for two years now so fingers crossed that is the end of it. You will be fine, you really have nothing to worry about.

My friend’s 14 year old son, James, has been diagnosed with this disease but was told by the doctor that he’s never seen it in a teen before. James toes are curling under. He has had an MRI and CAT scan to rule out nerve related problems. Do you have any information regarding this problem. After going to three different physicians, they have been told there isn’t anything that can be done for. We live in a small town in Wyoming, 5 hours from Salt Lake and 8 hours from Denver. Thank you, Robbin
