frozen shoulder

(2 discussions)

I have had this condition for 4 months with no improvement after 8 physio visits. I would like to begin a home program of excercises and ultrasound. Please advise the best excercise program and how ofter should ultrasound be applied. I have a machine available to me. What is the prognosis for this? ThanksRona

I just had surgery to repair torn ligaments in my shoulder, but prior to surgery I had a frozen shoulder. The thing that helped most for the frozen shoulder was cortison injections. The first injection I went from about 15% of normal to 60%. The second got me to about 85% (the rest came from exercise / stretching), at which point the surgeon was able to do the surgery. I know of another person that has had a frozen shoulder for almost two years now. Not sure what treatments he’s been through though. There are a few more extreme methods to deal with this problem, but it would come down to how it affects your life. The injections are minimally intrusive and don’t have too much of side effect. Make sure you have a good sports doctor doing these if you pick this route.Best of luck

I have been suffering for many years of arthritis specially on my right shoulder. I have been going to The Sports Medicine in NJ and the orthopedic has been giving Cortison shots to no avail. I take 2 and a half pills of Percocet for the pain and this year had already two shots of Cortison, one yesterday. I am feeling a little better today. Is it possible that the Cortison shots gives headaches, since yesterday I have been with a slight constant headache. Thank you for any comments you may give me.
