Heel Pain

(3 discussions)

Hello,
I am a GE Nurse who is on my feet all day on 10-hour shifts.
I am otherwise physically active and have been exercising and stretching for 18 months.
All of a sudden, I am experiencing pain just forward of both heels.
And, as opposed to the symptoms of plantar fascitis, it gets WORSE as the day goes on, being particularly painful after work.
I am stretching before I get out of bed in the morning, wearing gel inserts, changing my shoes frequently, taking Motrin — but I am still experiencing pain.
What else can I do?
Is this plantar fascitis or something else?
Thanks,LINDA

Your symptoms are consistent with plantar fasciitis. But, without examining you I can’t be absolutely sure. As you are probably aware, there are many different types of treatments, some of which you have already tried. You should make an appointment to see a podiatrist for further evaluation and recommendations.

Thanks — appreciate your time! I’m going to try a night splint too to see if that will help.
