Heel pain

(3 discussions)

16 months ago I ruptured the right achilles tendon.Non-surical repair of complete rupture.
It was in a boot brace for 2 months.
The tendon is 3/8 inches longer which causees a limp, but the real problem is the bottom of the heel, the left half is partially numb but has a lot of pain.
What can be done for the heel?

Have you had this problem evaluated? It might be a nerve entrapment, although without examinng you I can’t be certain. You might benefit also from a Richie type brace with the ankle locked. This is something you might talk to a podiatrist about.

My son has been complaining of the bottom of his heel hurting for the past week. It sees it hurts more when he is wearing his cleats for baseball? He practices or has games every night? Just wondering if it’s bruised or if this is something that needs to be checked?

If he is between 8-14 years old, very often this can be an irritation of the growth plate in the heel. First try a good cushioned insole in the cleat. Then if more is needed, add another heel cushion. If that still is not enough, have a podiatrist see about it.
      Hope this helps
