Heel Pain

(4 discussions)

Ten years ago I broke my talus bone in my left foot.
The bone was surgically removed and I was fitted with orthotics.During physical therapy, I was put on a bicycle to regain flexability in my ankle.
I continue to have a sore ankle and heel pain ( burning ).My question to you is, why do I have burning in my heel when I am walking, working, or any other weight bearing activities, but when I ride my bicycle, I have no pain at all?
I use clipless pedals when I ride and spin at 85 to 100 rpm’s.
Is ridng helping or hurting my foot?
Thanks,Gary

Possibly because when you are spinning you are not weight bearing, and the heel is not stressed.

Currently, I am in a cast for the next 30 days that has my left foot flexed towards my leg as result of chronic heel pain that never goes away. I have received so many cortisone shots that the doctor will not give me any more and ANSAIDs no longer spell relief either. I also have a complete ACL rupture too as a result of the stress placed on my knee when my arch collasped. Can my collasped arch be fixed? So far all young DPMs say yes and all of the old DPMs say no.
