heel spurs

I was found to have “heel spurs” upon leaving military duty quite a few years ago. My left heel had got to the point surgery was required. I have had my tendon detached and reattached twice now using pins. I have had my heel bone trimmed and redressed twice. On the last surgery they took the muscle attached to the underside of my big toe and it is now attached around my tendon. The right heel after the past three years of operations on the left heel is now more painful than the left one before surgery. My question is… is there anything I can do to relieve the pain still in my “post op” left foot (still non weight bearing) and is there anything I can do for the pain in my right foot until surgery can be performed. The doctor wants me off of pain pills and sleep is getting impossible.
