HOW WOULD A DOCTOR AND A PT TREAT HERNIATED DISCS OF THE CERVICAL SPINE..IM EXPERIENCING PAIN WHEN TURNING MY HEAD TO THE LEFT SIDE AND ALSO GETTING SOME NUMBNESS DOWN MY LEFT ARM INTO MY HAND..THREE OF MY FINGERS ARE ALSO NUMB WITH A PINS AND NEEDLES SENSATION, ESPECIALLY THE MIDDLE FINGER..IS SURGERY THE ONLY WAY TO GO?

    Larry, I would advise you to consult a Neurologist ASAP! They will need to do some X-rays, and an MRI to find the source of your problems. As far as possible treatment, that would depend upon your specific diagnosis, and might be treated by either an Orthopedist, Neurosurgeon, or PT. You might also be helped by a Chiropractor. The main thing is to get a professional evaluation ASAP. Please let us know how you make out, and good luck.

    A doctor would probably take an x-ray and maybe an MRI. A PT would most likely do things like traction, ultrasound, electrical stim, joint mobilizations, massage. I’ve had some good luck with cervical traction and joint mobs with folks with your same symptoms. Go to a dr. and get it checked out. The neck is nothing to fool around with. Mya
