hip tendonitis

(9 discussions)

I am looking for some additional exercises for hip tendonitis.
I had been walking 3-4 mis. daily and some bicyling I have cut way back on walking as it seemed to be an irritant and doing more biking. I have tried some stretches and am taking vioxx and icing some. Could you provide some helpful exercises or stretches? This is slow progress and I am frustrated.

hello, my name is daniel, I just turned 17 and I’ve been to a lot of specialist to fix my hip which is exspected to have a form of tendonitis. I’m starting to get frustrated because all the docs are quacks and don’t help. I’ve had this for almost 4 years and it’s starting to get worse. It prevents me from doing almost everthing. It makes my hip flexor realy tight and the back muscle as well, and is starting to hurt on impact when I run. I’ve had multiple x-rays, and a MRI which they say are fine.I’ve also had some physicle therapy along with many medications and vitamins & herbs. I’m 5’8″ and 120lbs. have you ever heard of anything like this, and know anything that will help. I hope soooooo much that you do. please write back. Daniel

Hey Stephanie…Don’t get frustrated…we’re all on the same boat. I am 23 and limited in everything that I do. I was also told that I had bursitis and tendonitis, but after a lot of research I think it might be a labral tear. This tear is similar to the miniscus in your knee. It protects the joint from bone-on-bone contact. Well I have found many articles that state that it is very common in young athletes and is very hard to diagnose because it doesn’t always show up on MRI’s, MRI-Arthrograms, or X-Rays. (this is what has happened to me!) I now have an appointment with a specialist on hip arthroscopy. Do some research on it and see if it sounds like your symptoms….it’s a possibility. GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I have been having a similiar problem also. About 4-5 months ago, I started having hip pain, usually after sitting for a long time and then standing, sometimes stopping me in my tracks. I had been doing cardio-kickboxing for about a year up to that point and had not had this problem before, it got so bad that I went to the Dr. I had e-rays and an MRI and they showed no problem, the Dr. said he thought I had tendonitis and then sent me to a PT, she also felt it was tendonitis, may some bursitis and a problem with my IT band. I’ve just finished a month long stint of PT with her and go back to the Dr. tomorrow, where I expect he will suggest cortisone. : : hello, my name is daniel, I just turned 17 and I’ve been to a lot of specialist to fix my hip which is exspected to have a form of tendonitis. Stephanie,My hip pain on both sides started June 2011. I have seen a medical doctor, physical therapist, neurologist, and orthapedic. Had an x-ray and MRI that came back with no problem found. I was referred to a pain care clinic by a relative. This morning was my first visit. The doctor diagnosed my hip pain as tendonitis. He injected the area with Kenalog 60 mg. I felt immediate relief. The doctor also wrote a prescription for Relafen (anti-inflammatory). It has only been a few hours since the injection, but any relief is progress!!! Seriously today is the first day I have been pain free since June 2011! He also gave me some mild exercises. Exercising makes the pain worse as well as walking (maximum 1 mile). The doctor has encourged me not to overdo the exercises, but try to do them everyday to build the tissue/muscle where the pain is located. I came across your article when I was reading about the Kenalog injection. I wish you the best of luck in finding a relief for your pain.

I have been suffering from the same problem for about nine months now – nothing helps. I’ve done PT, massage therapy, orthotics, coritsone, anti-inflammatories, etc. I am so frustrated and am desperate for some relief.

Daniel, does your hip lock? do you have trouble sitting for long periods of time? I’ve had a similar problem for about 4 years as well, and have been to a tun of specialists and no one knows how to help me!

Yeah, we’re all on the same boat alright. I’ve started having hip pains 10/2012. I play vasity basketball and it really holds me from performing at my highest potential and i’ve been trying everything. it’s been a year and it seems like my hip has gotten a little better. one thing that may help is to ice your hip for 3 to 5 minutes, then heat it for 15 and then ice one more time for another 3 to 5 minutes. There a little something that i’ve tried which has been working. It’s called Tiger Balm and it works way better than Icy Hot. Tiger Balm is for athlets that have pains and achs. I think that everyone with tendonitis in the hip should try this stuff. it works. Chris

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I started having hip pain about 3 or 4 months ago. After going and having an MRI and X-rays done which was fine. My doctor first believe I pulled something, and then it was bursitis. I saw an orthopedic doctor today and he told me it is tendonitis. I am in so much pain. I have been through many anti-inflammatories, ice and now stretching and nothing helps. It is restricting me from my work and I can not even sleep on that side of my body. I am only 21 years old and I can hardly walk. Anyone know of anything that will help me Please! I go back for pt in 4 weeks if the pain is still here.

: :hey, I am almost 20 and for the past summer I have experienced the same thing from pitching for my school and summer baseball teams. I also went to the Orthopedic guy for the Seattle Mariners yet they said the MRI looked fine along with the x-rays. I am taking a variety of supplements and I can’t tell if they are working yet because I have just started. if you find anything else that works or have found a solution could you email me, or if you have any questions feel free to email me also.will kaage
