How useful is the taping procedure at gaining proper knee alignment

My patella tracks to the outside in both knees.
I went through the regimen of strengthening the inter thigh muscles, etc… Several PT’s and Doctors recommended the taping procedure to pull the patella more inward. My question is (and none of the PT’s that I visited had an answer): Is the taping process really effective at pulling the patella toward better alignment? Once the slightest force is put on the knee the patella is extremely difficult to slide toward the center of the knee (try sliding the patella via your hand).
I don’t see how taping can provide such a force.

I wonder why you can’t passively push your patella toward the center of your knee? Maybe your ITBand is tight…sounds like you need some keep massage and patella mobilization. Are you still seeing PT?? Try the taping… It might help you. Good luck…Mya PT
