(4 discussions)

Hi,
I Have Had An Ingrown Toe Nail Since November Of 2011. I Got It From One Of The Side Effects Of ACCUTANE. Not Knowing That That Was The Cause I Continued To Clip My Toe Nails. I Found Out I Am Horrible At It Because I Now Have 2 On My LEFT Big Toe, & One On My RIGHT Big Toe! So The Count Is Currerntly 3 & Another One On The Way Because I was Running Without Any Socks On & Cracked Half Of The Nail When It Jammed Under The Door. It Stinks. I Want To Be Like Everyone Else In High School. I Want To Be Able To Wear Flip Flops. I Want To Be Able To Not Have Pain When We Run In Gym!! I Am Sick Of These..
I Want A Divorce From Them :P. The Descison Of Weather Getting Them Fixed This Week Is Like A Tennis Game Playing Through My Mind!! The Oldest One Is Starting To Hurt Like It Has Never Done Before. I Just Wanted To Know About The Surgery. I Cry & Scream Whenever I Have to Get A Needle! I Poke My Toe & I Feel Like Crying Because The Needle Would Be 100x WORSE!! Someone Who Has Got It Done..Plz Message Back..
I Need The Support From You. Please, I Beg Of you. Help Me Out

First, calm down. Ingrown toenail surgery is the most common surgery most podiatrists do in the office. It is also one of the most gratifying because when people hurt for so long, the relief can often be dramatic. It is true that not every doctor takes time to give an injection slowly, and therefore less painfully. You might ask around if anyone has had the procedure. Generally, patients are very happy with it. Very little if any disability or inconvenience accompanies this. Good luck.

Hey, read yur posting and it was funny because I COMPLETELY know exactly how you feel they are like a night mareon your feet. It got to the point where ia could even put my shoes on and even the slightest touch would be SO painful I would cringe… and its even more embarassing having to tell people the reason your limping or in pain is because you have an ingrown toe nail. Its not exactly a dinner topic. Both my big toes are really bad so it got to the point where I couldn’t walk without being in extreme discomfort so I went to outpatients and the doctor removed the left and right side of both nails…. it feels SO Much better now, the 20 minute procedure was a worth it. It hurts to get the freezing but in about 30 seconds you can’t feel it at all you wouldn’t know it if they took the whole toe!!! After you get it done it’s a matter of preventing it from happening again my doctor told me to lift the nail every day or even put something under the nail so it grows out and not in to your toe. Hope this helps 😉
