Ingrown Toenail

I recently just learn what an ingrown toenail was and that I had it and it been over a month since it’s been red and sensitive to touch… I never bleed or anything…..i’ve soak my toe and put cotton under my toe nail to lift it and it been working a bit… I would like to know what else can I do and over the counter medication is best for me to use to stop the ingrown toe nail because I don’t want to have surgery on it. thanks for your time hope to here from you.
