inner forearm, elbow joint, bicep pain

(2 discussions)

For months now I’ve had recurring pain in my elbow joint and upper forearm. Occaisionally when sleeping I have also woken up with hands and fingers that were asleep and numb and prickly.
If I’m on the phone using my sore (right) arm it will become painfully stuck in a bent position until I straighten it back out for a minute or so.
I’ve seen an Orthopaedic surgeon and he hasn’t made a diagnosis yet but he suspects carpal tunnel and sent me home with a wrist brace and a script for Mobic.
The wrist brace may be helping keep my fingers from going asleep at night but the arm is still giving me trouble about 60% of the time.
Would a cortisone injection help?
I see the Dr. again soon and he’ll probably order more tests or give me the shot and some therapy. Can’t take the medications anymore.

As a follow up, yesterday I was diagnosed with bicep tendonitis in the elbow joint based on MRI images. Theres also lots of fluid buildup making it dangerous to inject anything into the tendon for fear of rupturing it. Instead the Dr. has put me on methylprednisolone (steroids) for 6 days. I take 6 today, 5 tommorow, 4 the next day etc till the last day I take 1 and it should have the same effect on the tendonitis that the cortisone shot would have. Anyone else have any experience with this medication especially in that dose regimine?
