Is this normal procedure or torture??

Long story short, had hip arthro for labral tear, lots of complications, including intractable trochanteric bursitis, siatic damage from surgery traction, muscle weakness. PT used a kitchen sink plunger, oiled up side of hip down to side of knee and used plunger to pull up basicly the meat up off the bone, can’t tell you how much this hurt. Then used a kitchen rolling pin and repeatably rolled over trochanter area. This really felt like torture. My new PT thinks this stuff really set me back. What do you all think about this??

Sounds a little weird? How about calling the American Physical Therapy Association and asking them that same question.
