Knee

(3 discussions)

I popped my knee out earlier this year(April). Now I am back in school and playing college volleyball. My knee doesn’t seem to be as strong yet, even though I have been doing rehab. Leg curls, leg extensions, stationary bike, etc. I was looking for information or a website on taping knees. I have a pretty good idea but would like more professional advice.John

I haven’t heard the team Peristeal Sleeve but it probably means the outer covering of the boney joint lining. This should heal well in 2 to 6 weeks. The breace may just be to slow him down so no further damage is done, while at the same time giving some support/protection to the knee. Should be able to return to full sports in 6 to 12 weeks. Go slow, you don’t want this to be an injury that will affect him in his teens.

I took my 9 year daughter to an Othopedic Surgeon yesterday, she developed pain in her knee after twisting as she hopped off her skooter. The doctor said she had fractured her periosteal sleeve. I can’t seem to find any information on this type of injury on the internet. Is it a commom injury in children? He immobilized her knee with a brace and we will see him again in 3 weeks. Is this an injury that can repair itself over time? Will this affect her knee in the future. Will she be able to participate in sports and activities in the future?
