    Rest, Ice, Compression (Ace wrap), and Elevation are the keys to reducing swelling: In Sportsmedicine, we use the acronym “R.I.C.E.”. True elevation means that you need to have your knee above the level of your heart, so the easiest thing is to lie down and elevate your iced leg on a couple of pillows for 15 minutes at a time, 3-4 times per day. Avoid the use of heat until the swelling begins to go down…usually about 3-4 days after the injury. You need to determine what is causing the swelling, so I would recommend that you see your doctor for a diagnosis. H/she may also put you on anti-inflammatory medications, and recommend physical therapy depending upon the diagnosis.

    I think I hyper extended my knee. how do I make it better/how can you do to take down the swelling on your knee.
