Knee Brace Recommendations

(2 discussions)

Two years ago I had arthroscopic surgery for a left knee torn meniscus, eroded cartilage, and chondromalacia patella.
While much better, there is still a lot of osteoarthritis in my knee.
It bothers me more walking downhill than up. I often wake up at night with minor knee pain. I have been doing strengthening exercises and am not very limited by the arthritis unless there is a flare-up (like when I tried to take a step aerobics class.) We have an upcoming trip to hike the Grand Canyon and I want to bring a knee brace for support and/or in case of knee problems during the hike. Recommendations for a knee brace? Thank you!

I ski using a Don Joy. I have had multiple surgeries on the same knee…debridements, medial meninsectomy, lateral release, repaired mcl and a deficient ACL, all from a bad soccer injury at 16. I continued to play soccer and presently ski using the neoprene (wetsuit material) Don Joy. It offers very good lateral support and is adjustable evrywhere. It was prescribed by my Sports Ortho Surgeon and was 75 bucks. Phenomenol brace for a good price.Rob

Hi. You should look into a lateral patellar kneebrace. These are wonder in help glide your patellarthe right way. I have had chondromelacia and alittle of osteo. Get a patellar knee brace and strenghten your leg and the problem should fade away.
