knee brace to help lateral release issues

(2 discussions)

Had 1st lateral release in 2010 after 2 years of chronic lateral tendonitis (saw 5 different PT’s and went through everything from orthotics to other methods).
Have had bruising and some lateral pain.
In 2016, had a different surgeon do scope “touched up” the LR and scar tissue. After rehab realized that I couldn’t go down stairs or do a 1-leg squat on that knee without the kneecap “stuck”.
Try to keep quads and hips strong, regularly stretch. Can at least go down stairs now, walk and bike, but continue knifing pain and popping on lateral side. Unable to do a 1-leg squat with that leg. Kneecap still tilts laterally . Continue with VMO strengthening, but no change. Notice when I do 2-leg leg press that I’m getting a weird rotation of the lower leg. Any good knee brace or other technique? Husband is ATC and is fed up with my knee….

You should definitely try BioSkin’s QLok. It’s very comfortable (not made out of neoprene) and is really good at controlling tilt. It’s not available for sale on-line, but you can learn more about it on bioskin’s website. Have your husband order you one.
