Knee Replacement Rehab

(3 discussions)

My Physical Therapist is using a device around my ankle which he pulls down on with his foot to separate my knee joint and he manipulates the joint with his hands.
Is this safe after total joint replacement? And what good is it?

Actually I took a course describing this type of manipulation. Yes, it’s ok. Are you having trouble bending your new knee?

I can do the heel slides while sitting pretty easily to 120 degrees and can straighten to 0 degrees. The therapist used the device on my knee before the surgery also. What do you call the device and why is it used?

I’m not sure why it’s used, but sounds like you have full range of motion. I think the device did the trick.
