knee stuck?

my sister’s knee has been getting stuck into a bent position. she cannot unbend it when this happens…she had to go to the ER Saturday and they gave her a knee brace and crutches. No one has ever heard of this (she has not been to a doctor yet, appt. is Thursday) and we are curious! What could it be?

Hello, well I had the same problem, my knee kept sticking but never to the point of no return, I recieved a torn meniscus (cardilage) about 2 weeks earlier, ahd she heart he knee a few weeks earlier?

The same thing happened to me several times as a child. One time I was in the fifth grade at school, playing kick ball. I was justs standing and bent down when my leg got stuck. I was able to straighten it after a few moments. I was a strong child and do not remember going to the school nurse for pain, so I can’t say that it was very painful that time. A few years later it happened again in my home. I was of middle school age this time. I bent down to pick something up and the same leg got stuck. I had to be picked up and after a few minutes I was able to streighten it out.
I am only 25. As a child I recall having frequent charlie horses when sleeping. I also had poor circulation to my lower extremities and still find that my legs, feet, etc. fall asleep throughout the day, standing and sitting. I was very active in High School, running several miles per day. Though I still had the circulation problem and ocsassional charlie horse, my leg has not gotten stuck since.

I HAD SAME THING HAPPEN ALL MY LIFE. ENDED UP GETTING KNEE SURGERY LAST YEAR. IT TOOK THEM HALF MY LIFE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THEY SAID MY PATELLA WAS NOT ROTATEING RIGHT SO THEY RESHAPED IT AND PUT A SCREW IN IT AND IT HAS NOT STUCK SINCE.
