L5 – S1 protrustion

I have been diagnosed with an L5-S1 disc fissure/protrustion, with right radicular symptoms, approximately an S1 nerve root distribution ICD-9 codes are 722.2 and 724.4. What does this mean.Basically I am in constant pain in my back and tail bone, with radiating pain down my left leg and my groin area. On occation my leg even gives way if I step wrong.

It pretty much means what you have written. You have a disc protrusion pushing on the S1 nerve (pinched nerve) which, is causing your pain down your lower extemity.
