Ligament Reconstruction

Recently I injured my ankle (again after numerous ankle sprains) and I tore my Anterior Talofibular Ligament. PT wasn’t working and they sent me to a Podiatrist who I saw last week (the injury happened 8 weeks ago). Anyways, he recommended surgery after the swelling goes down (its pretty bad still). He is going to fix the ATFL and also scope the ankle. My question is what is recovery like? He said I would be in a cast for 4-6 weeks and then a walking boot. I assume I’ll be able to start PT after the cast is off? Normally, would a person be able to bear a lot of weight on the ankle at this time?
Thanks

Every doctor has their own way of handling post op recovery. It really depends on how bad the problem was, what was found inside, how you are managing post op, you health and activity level.Your doctor should be best able to answer your questions.
