ligament tear

My 15 year old daughter was playing volleyball last week and “rolled” her taped ankle twice in one game. Coach played her anyway…said it was in her mind, not to baby her ankles. After my anger subsided, I took her to our family doctor.
He said she had torn her ligaments and should take at least two weeks off from any sport (she is active in three different ones)and also said it would be 6-8 weeks for actual healing. The doctor had a xray done and nothing was broken, just swollen soft tissue.
The question is the coach wants her to play this week…one week of healing, what damage could she incur with a aircast brace and taped ankles and hightop tennis shoes.
What else would you recommend in this situation? Also, what brand of tennis shoe is good for strengthening ankles? Thanks,Concerned Mom in Texas fighting a losing battle

: Thanks,: Concerned Mom in Texas fighting a losing battleAnne,As a parent and attorney, I would seriously advise you to seek legal counsel with the matter. This “coach” needs to be taken to task…If I were you, I would meet with a Personal Injury Attorney, and, at the least, let the school’s administrators know that you are considering bringing charges of “Negligence” against their coach… He has NO Right to do what he did, much less to now try and pressure your daughter into playing before she is ready! Maybe the threat of a lawsuit will open the school’s eyes to the negligence of this coach, and save similar events from happening again and again…A Concerned Parent!
