lingering foot pain

Hi.
Just curious about your thoughts on a foot ailment that will not seem to go away.
My left foot, originally was casted casted because of a very minor fracture.
After removing the cast I attended therapy to strengthen inner arch and heel.
That was almost years ago and the heel continually aches after any strenuous exercise.
Occasionally, it aches when I get up in the morning.
I have iced, bandaged, lat soaked my foot.
My physicain (not speciallist) says have planther ailments and will probably need surgery. I’m 29 years old and have concerns about surgery, but also won’t ever be able to play basketball they way I used to in this condition.
I need an MRI most likely, and possibly surgery–correct?
My specialist jsut thinks I need more rest and have not gone forward with an MRI.

If you have not seen a podiatrist, I recommend that you do. I agree, a MRI is probably indicated, but it might not show anything very specific. An orthotic might be indicated.Without seeing your foot, I can’t tell you much more.
