Lisfrank injury

(2 discussions)

My daughter at college is having an MRI tomorrow (Thursday) to see if she has a lisfrank injury or posterior tibialis injury. She hurt her foot Monday eveing in a basketball game. I have looked at some websites regarding this injury and it seems like it is very severe.
She told me her doctor would not be in to read the MRI and consult with her until next Tuesday, over a week after the injury occurred.
Is this something that we should be pushing for more speed on?

When I order an MRI, the radiologist reads it and if I have indicated either calls me or faxes a preliminary report. Then they deliver the films and I can discuss it further with the radiologist if necessary. I have no way of knowing the reason your daughter’s doctor told her for the delay. Perhaps there is a good reason. As far as whatever she has wrong. She should be very careful. You did not indicate if she is non-weight bearing on crutches, but it probably is a good idea until more is known.

Thank you for her response. I wrote to the athletic trainer asking about the walking. The response that I got was that the Doctor had given her a ‘walking boot’, ‘a cast type brace that she is able to walk in.’ My daughter said that when she wears it there is no pain. I have cautioned her to stay off it as much as possible to keep the swelling down. The reason that she was given for the delay was because of his schedule. I will post next week what he does say as a diagnosis.
