Low back pain and hip pain

(3 discussions)

I have been in several car accidents, and it has been about 4-5 yrs since the last accident. I had severe pain and stopped going to the doctor when it went away. The last few days I have had severe low back pain wich seems to be in my hip on the left side and traveling into my left leg. I have also noticed in some of my toes on the left foot a slight numbness. What could this problem be and how can it be treated. It hurts to sit, stand and walk, and I did start losing weight which helped the first time after I was in a car accident. It is just so intense I would like to have some methods of relief for when I am at home and work. Thank you!

Tingling usually indicates a nerve involvement. Nerve entrapment can be caused by muscle spasm or a bulging or herniated disc. If you have been in car accidents in the past, seek out a local chiropractor to evaluate for your problems. After a car accident, many people just take medication for the pain, which is the usual protocol for medical doctors. However, this does not address the internal injury to the joints or msucles that may be injured. The medication masks the problem. So after your car accidents, if you did not seek any help from chiropractic care, PT, or massage, then the damage may still be there, although pain-free. Over time, this wears out the joints, and can lead to the development of pain. I have seen many patients who did not develop pain until 10 years after a whiplash accident. After X-rays are taken, we find arthitis, but the patient does not remember any injuries other than the car accident. In summary, find a qualified chiropractor to evaluate and treat you without the use of medication!

I saw a Chiropractor several times for my pinched nerve/disk problems and have to tell you that I was only starting to hurt more after seeing him and having treatments, etc… not better. I personally couldn’t see where he did anything at all for me, to be quite honest! So, if a Chiro is not for me and my pain/problems, what type of doctor should I try next?
