lump in heel

For three years on my left heel I have felt like I am walking on a marble, something snapping across the base of my heel when I roll it side to side, and have what feels like bruising (ie. as if having stepped on a marble).
It bothers me later in the day and evening, normally when I have been on my feet a lot.
It doesn’t hurt with stretching or extending the foot.
I was told it was plantar fascia but I recently discovered what feels like a small marble right at the bottom of my heel which moves side to side and snaps back when I roll my thumb over it.
Any ideas and should I go back to the specialist?
Can it be fixed?

You should go back. Chances are this is a soft tissue lesion. It might show up on a diagnostic ultrasound or MRI.
