Lump on foot
Hey,I’ve had pain in my foot for the past few years and there’s a definite lump at the side of my foot about where I think the base of 5th metatarsal is. It’s not very large but the side of my foot is discoloured and warm. It really sticks out when I spread my toes out. Although I guess the fact that I can do that must mean it is nothing serious, right? Any ideas what it could be please let me know. I’m having a lot of trouble getting shoes that don’t press on it.

The base of the 5th metatarsal is prominent in some people. If there has been an injury, then it can also be more prominent. If the “lump” is discolored and warm, it should be further evaluated by a podiatrist or orthopedist.
