Meralgia Paresthetica

I have been diagnosed with meralgia Paresthetica by a neurologist. He preescribed neurontin 300 mg. three times a day. I tried this for a month and a half with no effect. This condition has become crippling as I can no longer stand or walk for more yhan 20 minutes without severe pain. Would a chiropracter be able to help me? If so, what would he do?

I assume this in your case is pain from the hip down to the knee, pain being electric shock, burning, and then the pad of your top thigh goes numb. That is what MP is. It is caused by a nerve entrapment in the groin area. Many times people that have this are overweight. If so, losing weight, wearing no belt etc can help. Also many times it has to do with the psoa muscle. You could try to find a therapist that does active release technique. For yourself search the web for stretches for the psoa muscles. You can beat this. Without Neurontin I might add. In my opinion, I’ve had it, a chiropractor will not do much for this. They will adjust your hips, but you have a nerve trapped probably right around where your leg meets your pubic area. Good luck. Its no fun.
