moderate swell 2 months after ankle sprain

(2 discussions)

I came down from a rebound and twisted my ankle pretty hard a little less than 2 months ago and my ankle, though feeling much stronger even to the point of me being able to play almost full tilt using sharp lateral cuts and quick changes of directions, still has a slight bulge to it compared to my good ankle. Do you think that my occupation demanding 7 days a week of cleaning an athletic club at night (lots of walking and going up and down stairs)has much to do with this and that it is not anything too serious? I have been doing ice baths and elevation religiously for most of the injuries duration.

It would not be unusual to have swelling in this area after an injury for this length of time. You did not indicate how or even if this was treated other than ice and elevation. The more motion, the longer it takes to heal.

I have not had the luxury to get any proffesional treatment on the ankle as I am one of the 40 some million without insurance, it would be very costly to see a doctor. The ankle seems to be healing on itself just not as fast as I had anticipated. I worry about long-term, chronic pain, is there any way that I can work this thing back into good shape without a doctor or proffesional physical therapist? Do I continue to ice bathe>?
