Morton’s Neuroma: Recovering From Surgery

(3 discussions)

Hi,
A friend of mine who lives in France is recovering from surgery on her foot for Morton’s Neuroma. She had the surgery mid Nov. She was told a week or two ago to start walking an hour a day. She was doing this but after several days she has gotten really sore. She is depressed and disappointed.
I am wondering if anyone knows how long it actually takes to heal from this surgery and if anyone has advise for her?
Thanks **so** much!!!Sula

If she is roughly 6 weeks postop, then she should be able to do some walking. Perhaps 1 hour is too much for her. Everyone has their own tolerance. What matters most is to start somewhere and build on that. This is not a contest. Tell her that she is still healing and to treat the discomfort accordingly. It will probably take several more weeks to months to get over this completely, but don’t lose hope.

i am planning on having the surgery on my right foot, have had one injection and it only gave me relief for about one-two weeks. I have nervous that I may have further nerve damage if I have this surgery. The surgeon will do the dorsal approach. I am pretty active, how long will it be before I can hike, walk??
