MRI Lumbar Spine

I recently had an MRI on my back and this is the report. Please help as I donot understand what it means in laymans. I am in constant pain and the pain killers I have been given do not seem to work. Please advise how this can be treatedREPORT: The L4/5 and L5/S1 intervertebral disc is degenerate. There is L4/5 disc extrusion which is central and left para-central and is compressing the left L5 nerve root as it leaves the thecal sac to enter its lateral recess I think this is extrusion rather than sequestration as the disc material is still continuous with the L4/5 disc above the extrusion. No compromise to the exiting L4 nerve roots at this Ievel. There is no compromise to either L5 nerve roots in their exit foramen. No compromise to the exiting nerve roots or descending thecal sac at L3/4. There is also annular disc bulge at L5/S1 but this does not appear to be compromising the exiting nerve roots or descending thecal sac and S1 nerve rootS at this level. There is a significant left-sided central and para -central L4/5 disc extrusion inferior to the disc impinging on the left L5 nerve roots centrally. This is not causing significant spinal stenosis and will be the cause for this patients left sided sciatica

I have had two bi-lateral hip implants but have horrible back pain. Nothing shows up on X-ray, but would like to know if I can have an MRI safely? My two implants are made of metal on highly cross-linked poly? Thanks.Alice
