(7 discussions)

: Hello there I thought I had damaged my ligaments. But a physio told me that my tendons are swelling on my bone under my knee cap. I would like you to help me out because I ve been injured for 2 years now and I want to go back to my football career. Also what do you know about Osgoodslatus?

I’m 19 and I have osgoodslatus in both my knees I was diagnosed when I was 8 so quite a young age and I thought ( because I do martial arts ) that if I exercise it it will become better but I have found that the more I use them the more they hurt especially in the cold nurofen eases the pain slightly but in relation to your foot ball career it dosnt look good if you injure yourself it hurts more and it takes months to heal and it never heals fully so I don’t advise it but… lol. also osgoodslatus causes ugly bone lumps on your knees every couple of years I get surgery and they have to take calcium of my bone and I can’t walk for 3 weeks so I hpe you go to the doctor and get it checked out it can become a serious and painful injury. osgoodslatus I have also been told is herreditery so have a look at your family history

i play alot of football, and I am getting this really sharp pain just bellow my knee cap. This usually happens when I kick a ball and run/walk. The pain is getting worse but I am still playing my football but taking it really easy.

I have it too. If it does not go by 2 years you should consult a doctor. massaging it also helps

osgoodslatus usually occurs in growing teenagers, it’s where the shin bone is growing too quickley for the muscle to contain it so the only place it can go is up. This forms a ‘lump’ in your knee.
STRETCH! STRETCH! STRETCH! you have to stretch as ofton as possible. Over a period of time, this will help pause the effects of osgood so you can say bye bye!hope it helped, keep me posted 🙂

i have this too…. I got when I was 9. I love sports, and they are my life.. It hurt so bad when I was at practices and games that I couldn’t even stand up, but I pushed through the pain…back then when I was 9 I was about 4 foot 8…and now I am 5 foot 11 and I am 13 years old… So I’m guessing it has to do something with growing. let me just tell you that it still hurts but it is way better than it was. a while ago, I couldnt even bend down…maybe that is what your going through but it goes away eventually and now I can actually bend down without it hurting. now it only hurts when I hit it directly, especially in basketball, so it swells and hurts but aventually goes away…yes there are bumps but I guess I have to live with it now…also, my right knee is worse than my left… So I’m not sure what is going on there but hopefully this helped you…
