My son fractured his metartasal

My son is 12 and fractured his metarsal bone on the side of his left foot. We have not seen the ortho yet, it is Fri and we could not get an appt. until Mon. He is suppose to have baseball try-outs this weekend, and we are wondering how long it will take for this to heal. the Dr. in the ER didn’t seem to think it was a major fracture.

There is a secondary growth center at the base of the 5th metatarsal in children. It would not be the first time this was mistaken for a fracture. I generally x-ray both feet to compare. I can not tell you much more without examining him. The doctor who sees him can give more information.
