Nail after ingrown toenail removed…

I recently had an ingrown toenail removed by my Primary Physician.
It looks like she cut off half of my nail.
Right now there is only about half of the nail existing.
She used the chemical so the edge won’t grow back.
A day after the ingrown toenail was removed it got infected.
I took antibiotics.
The part where the nail was cut off turned black.
I was told by a podiatrist that the black was because of the chemical.
Anyway, my question is…
Will the half of the nail that was cut off and now missing grow back at least a little bit so it looks like I have a little fuller of a toenail?

You might ask the PCP for the answer, but if you can not then my guess is the PCP used silver nitrate which might be the black color you noted, the nail will most likely grow back. Most podiatrists use phenol for ingrown nail surgery.
