Need help for loss of fat pads on ball of foot

I am desperately trying to find some sort of insertto relieve the severe pain when walking due to the’loss of the fat pads on the ball of the foot, so themetatarsal bones have NO padding.
My mother is anactive over-80 person used to walking 2 miles a dayand is in agony when she tries to walk.
The localdoctor in her little town do not seem to be muchhelp.
She needs some sort of special inserts togive padding to those bumpy painful areas on theball of the foot.
She has tried all the standardpads in the drug store with little relief.
Thanks.

There are many prefab inserts and supports, the difficulty is in finding one that suits your preference. If shock absorption is what you want, then some decent products are made by Spenco, Sof and Bauerfeind who makes Viscoped. One must realize these take up some room in a shoe so there may need to be some adjustment there such as removing the innersole, or getting a larger size. Silipos makes a metatarsal gel pad that is comfortable but takes up room in the shoe. I am personaly not a fan of all the pads sold in the drugstore. If they were so good we would use them.
