numb knee – patellar region

(3 discussions)

About 2 months ago, I went on a group cycling ride that was longer and had a more aggressive pace than my previous rides.
The ride went just fine, but when I woke up the next morning, my knee was numb about the patellar region.
The numbness extended about 3″ down my shin toward the outside.
I’ve had no pain in my sensored, hamstrings, or behind the knee (which would indicate a pinched sciatic nerve).
The numbness is still present.
I can feel some aggravation when I squat all of the way down. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated? My chiro isn’t sure what’s happening either.

Did you ever find out about this? I developed the same problem the 4th of July and it has not stopped yet. Thanks, DeeR

Sometimes when I wake up my knee feels numb and it won’t let me bear any weight on it. I just collapse when I try to stand up. This only lasts a couple of minutes, but it seems to be more frequent. Do you have any ideas as to what this and how may I control it?

I had this happen for years and always thought it was a result of Runner’s knee. It collapsed sometimes, other times locked up, and every now and then I’d get shooting pains in the back of myknee. It turned out I’d had a torn meniscus for years and it just took minor surgery to repair it. I haven’t had any problems since.
