numbness on right side of thigh

(3 discussions)

Hi I have for awhile now been experiencing a numblike tingling sensation on the side of my right upper thigh just below the hip about midway down. This feeling increases from time to time while standing or moving about for durations and can sometimes feel hot and in worst cases feel like I’m being stuck by something sharp. The feeling comes and goes but there is always at least a real dull numb sensation. The area in question is I’d estimate to be about a 3″ radius. I am extremely overweight and spend alot of time on my feet at work. Does anyone have any helpful information on what could be causing this. I’m worried that it could be a sign of stroke or something worse.

It sounds like Meralgia Paresthetica. Weight loss can help relieve the cause and symptoms.
