Numbness, tingling and pain in both hands and right arm

I have had occasional numbness in my fingers in both hands when I wake up in the mornings for some time now. I have recently been doing a lot of digging, turfing the garden, and this has got a lot worse. Last night I woke up about 2am with severe numbness in both hands, followed by tingling which became a burning feel and was very painful.
It also seemed to travel up my right arm to the elbow.
I think this has been triggered by the digging.
It lasted for a couple of hours on and off.
I took some anti-inflamatory tablets which I think helped, and I am still taking them now.
I have a doctors appt on Monday but intend to carry on taking the tablets till then.
I do not usually do digging in the garden, this was a one off, so do you think it will go away if I don’t do the digging any more? I do suffer slightly from arthritus in my fingers as well.

My pain came every morning, after 1:00am, severe both hands and into mostly right arm. Couldn’t cut food and other things. This happened everynight for a week and still now after two weeks, I have numbness still, waking up in early morning both hands, not as severe. I had an adjustment in my neck from the chiropractor four years resulting in a stroke. I have had severe off and on neck pain since and my doctor thinks my hands are also from the neck. What is your opinion??
