  1. i have osgood schlatters and it is really getting to annoy me. i am 13 years old and i have had the injury for 8 months now. at first i thought it was nothing and i still kept playing sport but over time it became really bad. it has now been six months without footy or running and i am 2 weeks away from missing a season. this upsets me because last year i won best in my league and now i am missing my season. so i am just wondering what i can do to help me heal quicker and get to play next season. if you think sport wont hurt it too much please say so. please reply

  2. I am 43 years old. When I was 13 I was diagnosed with Osgood Schlatters in both knees by a pediatrician. I was a regular teenage girl and took ballet, tap and jazz once a week. I was not an athlete at this age, however I was 5’7″, the same height that I am now so I did grow quickly. I have continued with painful knees my whole life but have just dealt with it. For the past five months I have been working out three times per week with a trainer and have been tremendously limited by this particularly in my left knee.I had x-rays taken about 4 years ago with no definitive issue identified so it hasn’t appeared to be worse.I have read that adolescents grow out of this. Could I have been mis-diagnosed. What should I do at this point?

  3. The treatment for Osgood-Schlatter disease is relative rest. Decrease athletic activity. If you are now pain free it’s ok for you to resume activity. Make sure and stretch your quads and perform straight leg raises to strenthen your quads. And if it hurts you should stop your athletic activity.

    • I’m so sorry to hear about your condition. The literature states it would resolve in adulthood, but there is always that exception.

  4. I have has osd for 12 years i’m now 27, I am current going agony as the pain has come back. My gp gave me injection into both knees several day ago but i’m suffering from depression for this disease ruined my football career and has come to ruin my current sporting ac tivity.
