osteopenia resulting from AN

Hi. I am almost 21 and have suffered from an eating disorder since I was 12. I have now restored my weight, probably higher than necessary(BMI ~27) due to a variety of nutritional therapy/binge-eating/depression, but when my weight was quite low(BMI ~13) and I was hospitalized(numerous times) the hospital team did a Bone Mineral Density(Bone densitometry?)Test and it revealed I had osteopenia of the lumbar spine. That was approx 3 years ago.I’m just curious now, with my weight and menses having been restored for over 12 months now, I have still got quite severe lower back pain which only started when I started physically deteriorating, about 6years ago.Is it safe to go to a chiropractor for an assessment/ adjustment or should I have another BMD test first? I have never been to a chiropractor before. Thanks,Danielle

Yes its safe to see a chiropractor, at your age bone density will still occur. Taking a good calcium supplement can also help. Go see a chiropractor and then report back.
