Pain and Swelling in my foot

Since May of 2012, I have had pain and swelling inmy left foot. I was walking everyday and one day I gotpain in the top of my left foot. I started limpingbecause it was so painful. I have had a Chiropractor “work” on it — it did get a little better. I havehad other therapy — it always gets a little better, but it starts swelling and hurting again. I have hada bone scan on it and all they can tell me is that Ihave some “activity” in a couple of places in my foot.
I had the IontoPatch which is great for awhile, butthe pain and swelling always comes back. Now my regular doctor says it could be arthritis. I feelmore or less that they are telling me I have to livewith this pain. My podiatrist wants to give me a shotof Cortizone — but I am a Type II Diabetic andCortizone does a number on my sugar levels. I want moretests done, but no one seems to want to do anymoretesting. I would really love some answers from someone, anyone???? HELP!!!

I agree that you should question a shot of cortisone. My preference is to avoid giving diabetics cortisone unless it is the last resort. I would suggest an MRI or CT scan to show anything that might be going on. A bone scan shows activity which is an increase in the bone metabolism, but doesn’t really home in on the cause. You might see another doctor for another opinion. Good luck.
