pain down the left leg from hip to ankle

(5 discussions)

Has anyone had any experience with pain in the left leg from the hip joint to the ankle? The pain is not bad when I’m sitting or if I bend over a little to walk, however if I stand up straight or lie down in bed the pain in my leg is terrible. Neither heat nor ice does helps releive the pain.I’m thinking about going to a chiropractor………..any advice?

I also have this type of pain. At first if was in the center of my left buttocks, it goes and come. Now it is in my left hip on the side starting at the top down. It gets worse in the evening when I go to bed. In fact it wakes me up at night. I plan on going to the doctor tomorrow.

: I’d certainly go to a chiropractor and see what they say. I have the same symptoms, varying a little here and there, and am getting chiropractic care now. Have just started. He said over a period of about 4 months, it should be helped. I had this a long time, starting with lower back pain, before it got in my hip and leg. The lower part of my spine is curved, tailbone sticks out instead of down or inwards, and hip bone is turned in. A lot of pain! But, as bad as that sounds, he said that chiropratic care can alleviate it. Before going to him, my regular physician used cortisone shots, and after they wore off, the pain seemed to always be worse. He also told me my hip pain was arthritis. The x-rays the chiropractor took, showed no arthritis at all in the hip joint, but problems with an out-of-whack spine.*****I have exactly the same problem. Please let me know if chiropractic care solved this problem. Thank you.

I have the same pain, and it is the sciatica nerve, I have been seeing a chirpractor and believe me it does help. It affects my hip down the leg. He also told me alot of excercising and stretching to work the muscles. Hope this helps.
