pain under ball of foot

(2 discussions)

Hi,
I’m flat footed & have been trying to do more walking for excercise for about a month.
I stepped it up from 2 to 4 miles. I have started having pain under the ball of my foot & some numbness in my toes. I went to one size larger in my walking shoes & bought gel inserts but it still hurts & I have been unable to keep up my walking. Is there anything I can do? I’ve nevr had problems with my feet & can usually wear any type sneaker. I am now buying the more expensive ones.

Without examining you, I can not be certain. What you have described might be a Morton’s neuroma. A podiatrist can examine your foot and tell you for sure and make recommendations.

my daughter is 11 years old and has pain in her heals and balls of her feet. she also gets swelling and lumps on the bottom of her feet. it gets worse if she runs or walks for long distance. the lumps are the size of a quarter right in front of her heal. both feet the same.
