pains in both my legs..pinched nerve?

(2 discussions)

my MRI showed a small herniated disc, which my doctor said that is a pinched nerve, I was wondering what does a chiropractor do for a pinched nerve located L5 and S1. which causes pains down both my legs is there some kinda machine that stretches this muscle to relieve some of the pain shooting down my legs., both legs. I also want to know if there is some kinda of other treatment and ice or heat?

Chiropractors use manipulation to return function to the affected area and to help put the disc back into its proper position. After this is accomplished, proper strengthening exercises are performed to stabilize the area. Most techniques are hands on but there are chiropractors that also use spinal decompression equipment. This equipment uses controlled traction to decompress the spine or affected nerve. See a chiropractor for this problem, we see your type of problem on a daily basis.

It’s interesing that you say you give stretching exercises to your patient…BRAVO! Believe it or not I’m one of the few PT’s who see a chiro. However, I’ve been to quite a few, mostly due to moving to new areas, and not one has given me exercises or stretches to keep in place what they manipulated. Keep up the good work!!
