PARTIAL TORN PECTORAL

(5 discussions)

On March 22 I was diagnosed with a partially torn right pectoral. There was no bruising or deformity. Mytherapy seems useless as I have been doing light stretching, ultrasound and muscle stim. I can’t seem to get an amswer from the doctor as to what I can do to speed up the process or even how long is typical for such an injury. Any info you can give me on exercise or other things I can do to help get things moving or typical recovery time on such an injury would be great. Thank you

I tore my left pectoral muscle while bench pressing about a year and a half ago. It didn’t bruse but, hurt for for several weeks. I lost a lot of strenght. After a few weeks I started lifting again but, not regularly. I started back lifting regularly about six months ago and had gotten even stronger than before. The first of June I tore my right pec. This time it was alot worse than the left. It bruised and the right bicep also bruised. I went to the Doctor. He had Xrays and a Cat scan done. He said that the muscle was torn but, the tendon wasn’t. He told me to rest it for six weeks and start back light. It’s been six weeks and I have statred back. The pain is not the problem. The muscle just gives me a weird fatigue feeling. Also if I lie down on the bench with my arms striaght out to the side, then slightly raise them about 2 inches The left feels normal to the touch. The right one feels like a taut string running from the left upper conner of the left pec to about 1 to 2 inches down the Bicep. I would like some advice on does this sound like there is more than just torn muscle and if not what are chanes of gaining full strenght back. Is there any precautions to prevent this from happen again

Hi, my question is this, I tore my lower pectoral tendon from the bicep insertion, this was confirnmed & repaired within 2 weeks. My problem is this, I re-tore the tendon out about 10days after surgery, I fell in the shower & landed on my arm witch was not in the sling at the time. I felt a huge snap in the chest & under the arm(again) & bruised really bad (again)I went to see my surgeon, he told me he would not re-do the surgery, It is completely removed from the bicep again. I had an ultrasound done & you can see the tendon is back away from my shoulder, besides, its pretty obviouse from the outside. The question is this, how long can I wait before I get it re-done? I’m in the process of finding another doctor to do this but its taking forever. Second opinions are not an easy thing to have in this profession. The fact remain that I can not do my job, I have no stength in the right side, I do construction & can’t even lift anything more than 50lbs without droping it. Its been 10 weeks since the surgey. Any advise on what to do?Hs it been to long?

CJ, I recently have torn my R. pectoral muscle for the second time. But my story is a little different, and I’m not even sure that it is torn, cause I havn’t seen a Dr. as of yet. The first time was after a breast augmentation surgery, and had to have it repaired. But my problem is that I can’t actually remember the kind of pain that it caused. I am having pain next to my R. breast between my breast and upper armpit that feels like a bunch of needles sticking me. Can you tell me if this is anything like the pain that you experienced?Hope to hear a reply. Thanx

I have that excat probably, except its on my left pectoral. What is there to do to speed up the process of healing, because I am being told the same thing, that there is not much to do, and all I’m doing at therapy is stretching and ultrasound. Thanks!

I tore my left pectoral, some of the major and minor, in 2013.There was alot of brusing and had to have my arm in a sling for a month. I did some therapy along the way but has never been the same, my pec that is. Is there anything that can be done to build back up my left pec. I have heard all kinds of advice but would like to hear you take on it. thank you in advanced for any info or help.
