Partially Torn Toenail
My wife and continuously about whether we should cut the remainder of a hanging torn toenail off. My son occasionally tears his toenails to the quick or stubs a toe and tears the nail.
When the nail is 70-80% torn off, I believe that the loose portion should be cut off because it will tear eventually anyway and reopen the wound.
My wife believes that leaving the nail intact under a bandaid protects the wound.
What is your recommendation?

You both are probably correct, depending on the circumstances. Trimming off the snagged piece of nail is a good ide, and covering and protecting it with an antibiotic ointment and a bandaid is also a good idea.
