physical therapy for broken ribs?

I had 3 broken ribs(top three on the left side). It has been six weeks of recovery. Xrays show that one rib is not healing correctly. My doctor is recommending I go to a physical therapist. Is this a usual next step in the healing of broken ribs? Thank you Maureen

I was recently in a train accident, where I was literally thrown against a wooden seat, when the brakes failed and ended by stopping at the end of the line and hitting the buffers. I’ve broken/fractured 2 ribs 10 and 11, and my shoulder aches, and my back which was already a problem hurts.
I’m doing my breathing exercises daily but am in so much pain…. any advice would be good
