Pinched Nerve in shoulder blade?

3 weeks I have had what seems like pinched nerve under right shoulder blade. Think it is pinched nerve cause my fingers on right hand are a bit numb. Plus there is a spot on my right arm I can massage and feel it in my back and hand…can chiroprator help with this or is this more of a regular physician thing??

Sounds like you do have a pinched nerve, but this needs to be evaluated by a doctor first. I am biased, because I am a chiropractor. But a Physician would just X-ray it, then send you to Physical Therapy. If there is no improvement in 1 month, they would refer for MRI, which would tell them if it was a disc injury/nerve involvement. As a Chiro, I would do the same as above, but use chiropractic adjustments, as well as physical therapy stretching and exercises to treat you.

hi bretti have an almost identical problem on my left side. After spending a week bodysurfing in some monster tubes in mexico, I developed a pain emanating from a very tight knot next to my shoulder blade. my sister, who is a massage therapist, was amazed at how hard and unresponsive to massage it was. I had it massaged several times and it finally disappeared, only to be replaced by tingling and numbness in my thumb, index and middle finger, sometimes spreading up my arm to my shoulder. After returning to switzerland, I visited a chiropractor who, after taking x-rays of my neck, said that it was caused by damage to my spine (C6,C7) incurred 25 years prior in a whiplash accident. unfortunately his treatment did nothing to alleviate the numbness. on the contrary, I started feeling pain below the area he was treating. I stopped the treatment and am now looking for other avenues of treatment. any suggestions or new developments in your problem?

Thanks for the reply. I am seeing a physician today, the pain is very annoying and after a week and a half I need a second opinion, even the chiro I am going to can’t believe the numbness and pain is still there…You can feel a the muscle tight all the way down my forearm and index finger still numb….

Since May 28, I have had a pinched nerve under my left shoulder blade. After a foot surgery, I woke up in the morning with pain going down my arm and out my fingers. I had 4 months of therapy, but nothing changed. The therapist referred me back to my doctor and he gave me an anti-inflammatory. This helps some, but I have difficulty sleeping. I wake up about every 2 hours. I there anything you can suggest that I can do? Thanks.

Im 16 and I lift everyday but about 4 weeks ago I was lifitng but I had not felt any pain that day or during or after the lifitng. that night I woke up with TERRIBLE burning pain in my whole shoulder. there wasn’t one postion I could put it in that wouldn ease the pain. during the day it didn’t hurt as much but when I woke up almost every night it would kill. now 4 weeks later I still fell very week in that arm and when I move my arm a certain way I get a crcking in my shoulder and it kindof hurts. I’ve been taking naporxen. is this a case of a bad pinched nerve.

Yes! I had this for many yrs NOT knowing what or where it was coming from. Being on web now I’m looking into everything I can to seek relief. Pinch in shoulder then travels to left hand in first finger MIDIAN NERVE? It is around left side of mouth, cheek area & under tonge. Sensation of movement-weirs. HELP!?

For over a year I have been experinecing burning numbness under my shoulder blade with pain radiating into my neck down my right elbow and into my wrist and hand. I periodically have seen a chiropractor that has provided temporary relief. I also seen a physician where she did some nerve testing on the tips of my fingers for I believe the median nerve which showed up ok. The doc gave me muscle relaxers for before bedtime so I could get some sleep over a year ago that I still haven’t finished as I didn’t like how tired and foggy I felt the next morning. Also several times a day my back pops into place near the burning under the right shoulder blade. It gives me temporary relief with the endorphines that are released from the joints moving but gradually falls back out of place. What are my options to get relief?

It feels like I have 3 lumps under my right shoulder. I keep having my pinkie and the finger next to it going numb and different times, I have shooting pains that go on the under side of my are, I can’t find a comfortable place to sit or lay down. This pain started about 4 days ago and have been unable to sleep through the night without waking up in severe pain. I’ve also been getting headached that start at the base of my neck.

I have this pinch nerve in my shoulder blade for almost 2 years now. I have a regular masseuse’ that gives me strong therapeutic massage every week but it seems like not effective enough. My chiropractor and physical therapist may not effective either. Please help me to resolve this pains and I could’nt function normally. Your immediate reply is highly appreciated.

I too have the same symptoms. I am also a surfer and a professional drummer and have undergone surgery for this same problem. I have had cortizon shots and disc fusions and still have atrophy and pain in my left arm&hand. Where else in the nerve impingement coming from? Any answers out there??

My name is Reganie Boutilier. I am praying to god that you or some out there will be able to cure my husbands pinched nerve and the tingling and the horrible pain that goes through his arm all day and night. Several years ago he was in a car accident and was servely hurt stitches head to toe and the right side of his body was no longer in working order and he arm being like that stops him from being able to work as electcian. I am hoping that someone can either be able to refer us to another Doctor or give us some advice on how to ease the pain.

Regaine, I’m sure by now you have been to see a specialist. I’m just starting on a similar case, and already I’ve been told to have the C5-C8 disc MRI’d in my spine. Has your husband had this done?

I do not have insurance. Are there any stretching excercises to ease the dull throb? How about an old remedy fix?

Pain at a particular spot–shoulder blade edge area to lower shoulder.Numbness at back of arm to fingers which tingle a lot. Weakness in the areas too. Many years now.
