Plantar Fasciitis

A week of moderate hiking with new boots created a situation that has given me a nasty case of plantar fasciitis in my left heel.
It has been over a year now and the pain has not subsided.
Cortisone, custom orthotics, stretching, ice, night splint…the whole routine.
I am (was) a runner and am losing my sense of humor.
I would like to opt for surgery but have read conflicting accounts of the best procedure.
Full release, 3/4 release, 1/2 release??
Please help with advice.
Thanks very much.

  1. This subject has many viewpoints. There is no one right and one wrong procedure. You really need to discuss this with your doctor who would do this. Most surgeons are going to do the procedure that works best in their hands. Surgery is an art as well as a science. It might be awkward for a patient to tell a doctor what procedure they want if the doctor does not agree. You should have all your questions answered and go from there.
